Favre was planning his escape from McCarthy and Thompson long before he left Green Bay. He didn't want to play for Bullwinkle anymore.
He had to figure a way to get out of Green Bay. It worked perfectly. Retire, ask to come back, have the commish push Green Bay to reinstate him and then force a trade because you already named the replacement QB. Play one or two years, retire again, and then announce your intentions to sign with the Viqueens. Its a long way around the process but it worked. Childress was in on it the whole way. Favre and Longwell were eating it up on Sunday. Remember Longwell was a throw away in Green Bay as well. You don't think revenge was on both of their minds?
This trend will continue until Bullwinkle finds a way to beat the Vikes or he gets his walking papers.
Rest assured though. Minnesota will be good only as long as Favre stays mentally in the game and continues to play. Some day he will actually retire and remain that way. After that happens, Minnesota will become an ordinary team in search of a QB. Green Bay will still have theirs provided he is not forced into early retirement himself after getting sacked a bazillion times.

Jeff...you were right, it was 18 points, not 16. The odd makers sure got that one wrong. Wisconsin is going to loose to Iowa as well. Defenses are just too strong for the O line of Wissyconsin. Overrated in the the big ten and thats unfortunate.

Great stuff, particularly #1.

Here's my take on Favre, very much along the same lines.

The Brewers have two decent starters in AAA Nashville--Mike Burns, who came up earlier in the year and pitched four scoreless innings against the Marlins; and Chris Cody, who has put up impressive numbers in his three starts for the Sounds. Burns clearly deserves a chance, and could join the Brewers' rotation as early as next Thursday, and Cody deserves serious consideration after a few more starts in Nashville.

Wow, how incredibly weak. In the future, if you plan to write a humorous column, I suggest you try something novel, like, being funny.

Don't quit your day job. I can't believe I wasted my time reading reasons 10 - 7. I found it too stupid to keep reading. Do you really think you have a sense of humor?

the thought of brett favre on the roster is sickening. tarvaris jackson looked better at the end of last season except when the whole team sucked against philadelphia. i'd rather hope jackson breaks out this year than wait to see how favre destroys the 09 season
